Correct a record
Updated
How individuals flag a wrong fact, and how organisations correct, replace or remove a record without rewriting its history.
Corrections in Arrota never erase history. A corrected fact is added as an amendment, and the earlier version stays visible in the record's history.
If you are the individual
If a fact on a record in your Vault is wrong:
- Open the record in your Vault.
- Select Dispute a fact on this record.
- Describe what is wrong. The organisation sees your explanation, so give it enough to work with.
- Submit the dispute.
The record shows as Under review while the organisation looks at it. When the organisation corrects a fact, the record marks it Corrected by Issuer and the change appears in its history.
If you are the organisation
Review a dispute or confirmation request
- Open Verification Inbox in your dashboard.
- Open the request and review the supporting evidence.
- For each fact, choose Confirm, Correct or Can't verify. A correction replaces the individual's value in your attestation.
- Set a validity period and add a message to the holder if needed.
- Submit the verification.
Fix a wrong recipient email
If a claim invitation went to the wrong address, find the record in Directory, open its menu and select Correct recipient email. Enter the right address. The invitation is re-sent to it and the old link stops working.
Replace a record with a corrected one
Issue the corrected record first. Then, on the old record in Directory, select Replace with newer record and enter the new record's ID, which you will find in its detail sheet. Both records must belong to your organisation and the same person.
Remove a record issued to the wrong person
If a record went to the wrong person entirely, remove it rather than revoking it. In Directory, select Remove (wrong recipient) and type REMOVE to confirm. The file is destroyed, and the audit trail records permanently that it was issued to the wrong recipient.
