Authorise a verification request

Updated

When an organisation asks to verify one of your records, you decide whether the check runs. Here is what they see either way.

What a verification request is

An organisation, such as a prospective employer or a background-check provider, has submitted what it believes to be true about one of your records: your job title and dates, for example. It is asking Arrota to compare those claims with the record in your Vault. Nothing runs until you decide.

Review and respond

  1. Open the request from the email Arrota sends you, or from Verification requests in your Vault. If you are asked to sign in, Arrota returns you to the request afterwards.
  2. Check who is asking and the purpose they gave.
  3. Review What they are checking, the values the organisation submitted.
  4. Select Approve the check or Deny.

What happens on each choice

  • Approve the check: Arrota compares their claims with your record. They learn only whether each claim matches. When a claim differs, they never see what your record actually says.
  • Deny: nothing runs and nothing is shared. The organisation sees only that you declined.

Depending on its disclosure policy, the organisation that issued your record may review the result before it is released. If so, you will see its decision on your record.

Good to know

  • Only records an organisation stands behind can be checked this way. Self added records are not eligible.
  • A request you have already answered shows Already decided.
  • Denying a request does not count against your record.
