What is Arrota?
Updated
Arrota connects the organisations that issue records, the people those records belong to, and the parties who need to check them later.
On this page
Arrota is infrastructure for important employment, education and professional records. Each record lives with the person it belongs to, stays connected to the organisation that issued it, and can be checked by others when the person agrees.
Three roles, one record
- Organisations issue records through Arrota: employment letters, degrees, certifications, training records and more. The organisation remains the source of the facts it issues.
- Individuals keep their records in their Arrota Vault. The records stay with them after they leave a job or finish a course.
- Verifiers, such as an employer screening a candidate, can check a public credential or run a formal verification. A formal verification runs only when the individual authorises it.
What makes an Arrota record different
A PDF on its own cannot tell you who stands behind it or whether it is still current. An Arrota record carries:
- Its source: which organisation issued or confirmed it.
- Its status: whether it is active, under review, revoked or expired.
- Its history: corrections and changes are added to the record, never silently overwritten.
Read Understanding source, evidence, status and history for what each label means.
