A common correction
A university issues a Bachelor of Commerce. The graduation date is wrong.

A new file goes out, but the old one keeps circulating. People are left with two versions and no reliable way to identify the current one.

Correct the record. Keep the history.
The field is updated through a traceable process. The change becomes part of the same record and its history.

Every lifecycle event stays on the record it belongs to, dated, attributed, and visible to the people entitled to see it.
Inspecting a record shows its fields and the history behind them: what was amended, by whom, when, and what the value was before. Not a log file somewhere else. The record itself.

Can a record be edited after it is issued?
Fields can be corrected through a traceable process. The previous value stays on the record, and each correction is attributed and dated.
What does the holder see when a record changes?
The record in their vault shows what changed, when, and who made the change. If a record is superseded, the newer version is linked too.
Does revoking delete the record?
No. A revoked record stays publicly visible with a clear revoked status and its history. Deleting it would leave every old link telling a lie by omission.
What happens over ten or twenty years?
The record is designed to remain accessible after your relationship with the recipient ends. Its status and history remain available from the same link.
Who audits the auditors?
Every lifecycle action is attributed to a participant. Issuer actions carry the issuer’s identity; Arrota operates the system but does not alter record content. The Trust Center explains the full model.
Can we see who changed a record?
Yes. Record History identifies the action, time and responsible account so corrections, supersessions and revocations can be reviewed.
Can we find records that need attention?
Yes. Filters and Status views help teams find records that are under review, expiring, revoked or superseded without searching through every record manually.
